Denny's 24-hour-breakfast menu. I eyed my food suspiciously,… - I sharpen my teeth with my tongue

Denny's 24-hour-breakfast menu.

I eyed my food suspiciously, knowing that I would come to rue this decision. But I had nay eaten a small portion and already I felt my innards wasting away under the inevitable rise of my gastric-intestinal-acid-reflux-disorder. "Dramatic Heartburn", as I like to call it. Still, I pressed on. (What you can't see is my large glass of Shirley Temple, my plate of buttery lumberjack pancakes and my bowl of gooey cherry topping. Or the ashtray full of cigarette butts, but that's neither here nor there. We're dealing with this fashion of self destruction.)

I cared not for the opinions of my dining companions. I could not feel their dodgy narrowing eyes or their silent disapproval. They couldn't understand the price of my pain would be my melting hunger for pre-packaged partially-hydrogenated chemically-flavored Denny's goodness. I was in the land of the preservatives and I had yet to feel a twinge of yuck.

Angie, however, threw up before we left.
